Pray

Without prayer there is no mission. Prayer is the engine of mission. Mission to the unreached peoples is challenging and brings spiritual warfare. Our primary weapon is prayer. God’s word calls us to pray and do so persistently, perseveringly. Satan knows exactly what happens when Christians start praying.

Please pray:

  • for the unreached peoples.

  • that blind eyes may be opened.

  • that hearts are softened to accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord.

  • for our workers on the field and in the offices.

  • that missionaries will be able to bring the gospel in word and deed.

  • for local believers and local churches.

  • for the persecuted church.

  • that more workers will go to the unreached.

The Lord says that the fields are ripe for harvest, but the workers are few. The solution he gives: “therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Missionaries are just people. They have fears and needs. You can pray for them about the following:

  • relationship with God, courage, strength, perseverance.

  • protection from temptation and sin, purity and integrity.

  • physical and emotional health, far away from family and friends, loneliness.

  • financial concerns.

  • safety: travel, earthquakes, threats, war, terrorism.

  • adaptation to another language, different culture, different climate.

  • open doors for the gospel.

  • singleness, family life, team life, conflict management.

  • visas, favour with the authorities.

A few tips in view of your own busy life:

  • make a prayer diary: note the prayer points you want to pray.

  • make a prayer list in your Bible, pray every time you read.

  • apply prayer points to the prayer meetings in your church.

  • choose a fixed prayer time and put it as a time clock in your cell phone.
